How we estimate fees

  • Ethereum, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche: the current gas price × 65,000 gas, a typical USDC/USDT transfer.
  • Base and Optimism: the same, plus the fee for posting the transaction's data to Ethereum, read from the network's fee contract (an upper-bound estimate).
  • Arbitrum: the transfer gas plus Arbitrum's own estimate of the Ethereum data cost, at the current base fee.
  • Solana: the 5,000-lamport base fee plus the median recent priority fee for a token transfer.
  • Tron: 65,000 energy at the network's current energy price, paid in TRX when you have no staked energy.

FAQ

Which network is cheapest for sending USDC or USDT?

Right now Optimism is the cheapest of the networks we track, at about $0.00017 per transfer. Fees change with demand, so check the live table before you send.

Does the network fee depend on how much I send?

No. The network fee pays for processing the transaction, so sending $10 or $10,000 of USDC costs about the same. Exchanges and apps can add their own fees on top.

Why is Ethereum more expensive than Base or Arbitrum?

Base, Arbitrum and Optimism are layer 2 networks: they process transactions in batches and post compressed data to Ethereum, which spreads the cost across many users.

Do I need the network’s own token to pay the fee?

Usually yes: a regular wallet needs some ETH, POL, BNB, AVAX, SOL or TRX on that network to pay for the transfer. On Moai.cash, sending stablecoins is free and no network fee is passed on to you.
